Science experiment ideas all depend upon the individual student’s interests. For instance, if you are interested in animals you may be more interested in doing a project on Zoology, which is the study of animals, or Biology which is the study of all living things and the relationships between plants and animals. However, if you are interested in plants you might choose to do a project on Biology, which again is the study of all living things, including plants and animals. You will find out what makes plants grow, their contribution to our environment and their cell structure. If it’s the stars, planets, the universe and the solar system that you find intriguing, you may want to pick a topic on Astrology.

If you like working with substances and seeing how they react to one another, you should choose a topic about Chemistry. Maybe earthquakes, tornadoes, fossils, minerals, rocks, the weather, oceans, marine life or prehistoric creatures are what interest you, in which case you should choose Earth Science experiments ideas to focus on. If machinery and how it works is what you find fascinating then you should study Engineering.

Environmental science experiments might be your thing if you’re concerned with the earth, recycling, composting, ecology, acid rains and the effects of pollutants. If you’re interested in bacteria, yeast and microorganisms, then Microbiology is your thing. If you like to learn about electricity, energy, gravity, machines, magnets and how materials change and combine, then you should choose a Physical science project. However, if it’s numbers and symbols that peak your interest, you should choose a topic about Mathematics.

By: Dee Schrock

When it comes to choosing a science fair project there are many different topics to choose from. First you should pick a category that interests you. There are 10 basic categories to choose from:

·Astronomy, which is the study of the stars, planets, solar system and universe.
·Biology, which is the study of all living things including humans, animals & plants.
·Zoology, which is the study of animals.
·Chemistry, which is the study of substances and it’s transformations.
·Earth Science, which is the study of the Earth.
·Engineering, which is the functioning of a machine or mechanism.
·Environmental, which is the study of sources and their control; ecology, recycling, reclamation, restoration, composting, acid rain, affects of pollution.
·Microbiology, which is the study of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungus and yeast.
·Physical Science, which is the study of matter and energy.
·Mathematics, which uses numbers and symbols to study amounts and forms.

Once you have chosen a category that interests you it’s just a matter of finding a question you would like answered in that particular category. For example, if you were to pick Zoology you could ask “How does the lifespan of a dolphin differ if they live in captivity compared to living in the wild?” and then you would research that topic to find the answer.

There are many different topics for each category so it’s all a matter of preference. If you love animals then you would likely go with biology or zoology and pick a topic from there, however if you like working with numbers to solve problems then you would be better off to pick a topic under the mathematics category.

By: Dee Schrock

Any topic can be selected for 8th grade science fair project provided it uses scientific process. It is better to take the simple one, which is experimental in nature and not designing a model. The topic selected for an 8th grade science fair project should not be a replica of an already tried experiment. The original experiment should not be represented as such with out any change. The individual, who works on the topic, should have complete knowledge about the topic undertaken. The project or experiment, even if it is small should be focused and the demonstration should be complete and easily understandable.

The data and variables should be represented in the graph in a neat and appealing way. Equations can be used to show the relation between the variables. And vague expression of ideas by waving hands should be avoided. Unlike the middle school projects finding resources in encyclopedias or web resources will not be sufficient. Further references need to be done in the recent publications, high school texts etc in order to cover the adult audience. The 8th grade science fair project should be unswerving from the topic given. Display boards need to be used to display the data. The project should include the interview by the judges and one should be prepared for that too.

The general fields from which one can select topics for 8th grade science fair project are anatomy, astronomy, biology, botany, chemistry, geology, mathematics, microbiology, physics, physiology, zoology and so on. The 8th grade science fair project should not be a report submitted on any of the given field. It should involve some experimental research, concept development, some inventions or designing some thing new and so on.

The basic processes involved in an 8th grade science fair project can be explained in different stages. It involves selection of an appropriate topic, collecting the information, preparing the plan on how to proceed, preparing the project based on the plan, trying out the experiment, finding out the implications by analyzing the data, writing the report, making the display of the project, rehearsing for the actual presentation, carrying out the actual presentation. When all these processes are properly carried out then the result will be really amazing.

The presentation of report for 8th grade science fair project should be handled with proper care. Since it is the one which is going to be a record for the work one has done in the 8th grade science fair project. The report should consist of table of contents with list and page numbers, abstract of the project, research report, purpose, hypothesis, materials, procedure, results, conclusions, acknowledgments and bibliography. Care and involvement in the work is essential throughout the working of the project.

By: Jordan Matthews

There are countless science fair project topics. To figure out a topic, you must first decide on a category of interest; Astronomy, Biology, Zoology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering, Environmental, Microbiology, Physical Science or Mathematics. Once you have found a category that you like, you can then decide on a topic. It may not be an easy task, since there are countless topics on each category, but it will not take you long before you choose something that really interests you. Just remember that any project has the potential to be a winning science project, and keep in mind that the judges are looking mainly at presentation and whether or not you learned something from the project.

You don’t want to pick a topic that is too easy, nor do you want to choose one that is beyond your level. The judges want to see that you are knowledgeable about your project and that you have documented your findings. Obviously, the first thing they will notice is your presentation, so you want to make sure it’s eye catching and well organized. If you use graphs in your project, make sure to double check your figures and ensure you understand the graphs you are presenting. If you can’t explain your work, you are definitely going to lose points. Basically, if you chose a topic that interests you, is on your skill level, that you genuinely learn something from your project, are able to show and explain your work, and present the project in an organized and eye catching manner, you are likely to score great points with the judges.

By: Dee Schrock

Biology science fair projects are focused on the study of all living things and the relationships between them. Biology refers to any living thing; plants or animals and how they live, how they grow, how they interact with one another and their environment and so on.

Biology can be broken down into three separate categories; botany, which is the study of plants, zoology, the study of animals, and microbiology, which is the study of microorganisms. To do a successful biology science project, you should choose the category that interests you the most. If you like animals, you might choose a project on finding out how fire flies glow and what they can teach us about life. If you enjoy plants you might choose a project that focuses on plants, such as finding out if seeds can germinate without soil. If microorganisms interest you, you might choose a project like researching to find out if yeast is a living organism.

Whichever biology science projects you choose to do your science fair project on, you should make sure you are capable of explaining your entire project. The judges want to know that you are knowledgeable about the subject you have chosen. You will also want to make your presentation pleasing to the eye, so be sure it’s very organized and tidy. There are many different topics to choose from when it comes to biology, so you should have no problem finding one that interests you and will capture the attention of you audience and the judges. Good luck!

By: Dee Schrock
